May 30-8: Philly Beer Week, Philadelphia, PA
The seventh annual Philly Beer Week will take place at breweries, bars, restaurants, stores, and other venues in and around Philadelphia. It traditionally kicks off with the Opening Tap. Other headline events will include the Hammer of Glory Relay and the International Great Beer Expo. There were hundreds of other events including beer dinners and beer and food pairings, tours, meet-the-brewer events, release parties, tap takeovers, tastings, and specially-priced drinks.
7: Mid MO Beer Festival, Mexico, MO
The Knights of Columbus present the inaugural Mid MO Beer Festival, which will take place at Mexico Knights of Columbus Park, one mile north of town. This afternoon event will feature a variety of craft beer, along with live music. All proceeds will go to the Knights' projects and charities.
7: Sasquatch Brewfest, Eugene, OR
The Northwest Legends Foundation presents the 12th annual Sasquatch Brewfest, which this year moves to a new location, Eugene's Fermentation District. This all-day outdoor event will feature beer from Pacific Northwest breweries, including beers brewed specially for the festival. There will also be a homebrewing contest, live music, food booths, and a silent auction. A beer dinner will take place the evening before the festival. A large portion of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation.
7: Three Valleys Festival, Dronfield, England
The Sheffield & District Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale presents the Three Valleys Festival, which will take place in Dronfield. Thirteen venues, including suburban community pubs, town centre bars, classic country hostelries, and a farm brewery, are scheduled to take part. The venues will offer a selection of Real Ales, along with music, food for purchase, and other attractions. A free bus will run regularly between all the venues and the Dronfield railway station.
11-15: Beerfest Kosova, Pristina, Kosovo
Modus LLC presents the fourth annual Beerfest Kosova, which will take place at Sheshi Zahir Pajaziti in the center of Pristina. This five-day event, which is the first-ever beer festival to have been organized in Kosovo, will feature beer from 18 breweries from Kosovo and other countries in the region. There will also be live bands and DJs, and food from local restaurants. The festival website is entirely in Albanian.
11-15: Mondial de la Biere, Montreal, QC, Canada
The 21st annual Mondial de la Biere will be held indoors at the Palais des Congrès and outdoors on Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle in downtown Montreal. Organizers expect to have about 500 beers from around the world, including hard-to-find beers and with beers specially brewed for the festival. There will also be Quebec cider and other food specialties from the province, and the Mbeer series of conferences and seminars. Admission to the festival is free.
13: Friday the Firkenteenth, Philadelphia, PA
Friday the Firkenteenth, held at the Grey Lodge in Philadelphia, is a Friday the 13th tradition that dates back to 1998. A total of 30 or more firkins of cask-conditioned beer will served in two tasting sessions. This is the only known beer event in the world whose frequency and timing are entirely at the mercy of the calendar.
13-15: Washington Brewers Festival, Redmond, WA
The Washington Beer Commission presents the 2014 Washington Brewers Festival, which will take place at King County's Marymoor Park in Redmond. Friday evening's 21-and-over session will feature beer from around 35 Washington breweries, including a special Friday-only beer selection, along with food and live music. Saturday and Sunday's sessions, which are open to all ages, will feature nearly 200 draft beers, along with ciders and wines. There will also be live music, a brewers' keg toss contest, food for purchase, a craft market, and a kids' playground and root beer garden.
14: Five Alarm Mountain Madness, Farmington, PA
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, in Farmington, will host the fifth annual Five Alarm Mountain Madness. This afternoon event is a beer festival, paired with an International Chili Society-sanctioned cook-off judged by a celebrity panels. There will also be live entertainment, food for purchase, a Kidz Korner, and adventure sports. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department.
14: Great Northern Beer Festival, Eagle River, WI
The 2014 Great Northern Beer Festival will be held on the Festival Grounds at Hi-Pines Campground in Eagle River. This afternoon event will feature beer from more than 30 breweries, most of them from Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest, along with homebrew from the Northwoods LUSH Inc., Club. Food and snacks will be available for purchase. Proceeds will be given to several local charities.
14: Monterey Beer Festival, Monterey, CA
The 13th annual Monterey Beer Festival will be held at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center. This afternoon event will feature beer from more than 80 local, domestic, and foreign breweries. Live bands will perform all afternoon, and food vendors will be selling a variety of cuisines. VIP tickets, with early admission and access to the Turf Club, are available. Proceeds will benefit the Monterey County Fair Heritage Foundation.
14: New Hope Beer Festival, New Hope, PA
The inaugural New Hope Beer Festival will be held at the Eagle Fire House Banquet Hall, located within walking distance from downtown. This afternoon event will feature beer from Philadelphia-area craft breweries, with an emphasis on seasonal beers. There will also be live music and entertainment. VIP tickets, with a special selection of beers, are available.
21-22: Northern Virginia Summer BrewFest, Leesburg, VA
The seventh annual Northern Virginia Summer BrewFest will take place at Morven Park in Leesburg. This two-day event will feature beer from more than 60 American breweries. There will also be music by local and regional bands; a variety of food for purchase; and a wide array of artists, crafters, and business and commercial exhibitors.
23-29: Nashville Craft Beer Week, various locations, Nashville, TN
Rhizome Productions presents the third annual Nashville Craft Beer Week, which will take place at breweries, bars, restaurants, stores, and other venues in and around Nashville. The headline event is the East Nashville Beer Festival. There will many other events, such as beer dinners and beer and food pairings, tours, meet-the-brewer events, release parties, tap takeovers, tastings, and specially-priced drinks.
28-29: Great European Beerfest, Pittsburgh, PA
The Sharp Edge Beer Emporium, in Pittsburgh, will host the 18th annual Great European Beerfest. Recent editions of this two-day event, which organizers describe as America's "only all-European Beerfest," gave featured around 135 beers, including 40 from Belgium. Importers' representatives will be on hand, and there will be live entertainment, homemade food for purchase, and a drawing for prizes at all three sessions.
TBA: Founders Fest, Grand Rapids, MI
Founders Brewing Company presents the seventh annual Founders Fest, which will take place in downtown Grand Rapids. Recent editions of this festival have been an outdoor daytime beer and music festival with Founders beer, including Founders Fest Wheat; live music; food vendors; and a "Local Artists Row" showcasing area artists and designers.
